Who we are

This website is operated by Alex Farrell, trading as Solar Stash, 27 King Street, Leeds, LS1 2HL. Alex Farrell, trading as Solar Stash, is the data controller for the personal data you give us through this site. What we collect

When you ask for a survey we collect what you enter in the form:

• Your name, phone number and email address
• Your postcode
• Whether the enquiry is for a home or a business, and the property type
• Whether you already have solar panels, what you are interested in, and how you would like your quote
• Anything you add in the message box

We also collect limited technical data automatically, such as your IP address and browser type, through our hosting provider’s standard server logs. This keeps the site secure and working.

How we use it

• To call you back and check whether your home suits solar
• To book your free survey with an MCS-certified installer
• To pass your details to that installer so they can survey, quote and, if you go ahead, install
• To stay in touch about your survey and your quote
• To meet our legal obligations and keep records of enquiries

We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to other companies for their marketing.

Our legal basis

We process your enquiry on the basis of your consent, given when you tick the box on the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who ask us to book a survey. If you go ahead with an installation, your installation contract is with the installer, who becomes a data controller in their own right for the work they do; their privacy policy covers that.

Who we share it with

• The MCS-certified installer who will survey your home. They receive your name, address, contact details and what you asked about, so they can arrange the survey and prepare your quote, and nothing more.
• Resend delivers enquiry emails from the website to our inbox.
• Twilio may send us a text message alert with your name, phone number, postcode and what you asked about, so we can call you back quickly.
• Vercel hosts this website.
• Google provides the analytics and advertising measurement described under Cookies below, only if and when you accept them.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it or to defend our legal rights.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry data for up to 24 months after your last contact with us. If you go ahead with an installation, we keep our records of the enquiry and the booking for as long as needed for accounting and legal purposes, typically six years.

Cookies

The site needs no cookies to work, and sets none until you accept them. We may use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand which pages lead to enquiries and to measure advertising. These are wired into the site but inert until switched on; if they are active, a notice asks you first, nothing is set until you press Accept, and you can choose Essential only. Your choice is stored in your browser and you can change it by clearing the site’s data. The quote form stores your answers in your browser’s session storage so they survive a page change; this is deleted when you close the tab.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can:

• Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct it or delete it
• Restrict or object to how we use it
• Withdraw your consent at any time
